Wings of Wonder originally started as a raptor sanctuary and rehabilitation center in Empire, Michigan….literally in Rebecca’s back yard. She worked for 10 years before establishing the organization as a non-profit. She dedicated 30 years to returning sick and injured birds back to the wild, presented educational programs to thousands of people, and increased overall public awareness about wildlife, ecology and environmental issues as they relate to raptors.
2021 brings Rebecca out of retirement with a new focus: partnering with longtime friends and colleagues at the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians to bring to our area the first Tribal Eagle Aviary and Rehabilitation Center east of the Mississippi River.
Rebecca has been a wildlife rehabilitator and educator since 1990. She holds rehabilitation permits from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the United States Fish & Wildlife Service and is also permitted to possess non-releasable raptors for use in educational programs.
